CTP Assist

Continuing our shared belief that all ex-Forces personnel are entitled to support, the Forces Employment Charity and the Career Transition Partnership (CTP) created CTP Assist, a programme dedicated to supporting Personnel on Recovery Duty (PRD) who, due to the nature of their injuries, unfortunately often face challenges when looking for meaningful employment as a result of their medical discharge.

PRD Service leavers are referred by their military unit to CTP Assist, where support is then available for up to two years post-discharge. They are paired with one of our Specialist Employment Consultants (SECs) who are based in a range of Personnel Recovery Units (PRUs) in locations across the UK.

Working with their SEC, PRD Service leavers are empowered to take their next steps through an individual and tailored service which includes in-depth support, access to job opportunities, additional signposting according to their specific needs and practical tools such as help creating a CV, learning interview skills and tips for researching and applying for jobs.

PRUs locations in the UK include:

  • Aldershot
  • Brecon
  • Catterick
  • Chilwell
  • Colchester
  • Edinburgh
  • High Wycombe
  • London
  • Northern Ireland
  • Plymouth
  • Preston
  • Telford
  • Tidworth

Our team of experts, many of whom also served and all of whom have mental health first aid training, empower PRD Service leavers by providing honest and considered guidance and recommendations to create a pathway to their specific goals. These goals may be part- or full-time employment, volunteering, apprenticeships, work placements, education, retirement, or another bespoke ambition.

We know first-hand from our work with CTP Assist how daunting medical discharge and leaving the military can be. However, we also know it can be the start of new opportunities.

"I cannot believe the change in myself and I can’t thank you enough. Before I spoke with you, I had no self-confidence and no self-esteem. As a result of your coaching, encouragement and guidance I have secured an amazing job. The amount of support you provided has been amazing and I’m so excited for the future."
