Strategy for our veterans: UK government consultation paper published

The Office for Veterans’ Affairs published their response to the Strategy for our Veterans UK Government consultation paper today. The response outlines:

  • a summary of the responses received
  • a summary of what UK Government already does to support veterans
  • the government’s plans in response to the consultation

“The publication of the Veterans Strategy Consultation is long-awaited and very welcome,” said Alistair Halliday, RFEA’s Chief Executive.

“There are a lot of very positive initiatives here, such as the compulsory job interviews for veterans, NI relief for employers and the veterans’ railcard, which will all have a positive impact on veterans, and with the prospect of more measures to follow. It shows that the government and especially the new Office of Veteran Affairs do want to make a difference here in striving towards their vision of making the UK the best place in the world to be a veteran.”
