GROWING OUR COMMITMENT TO SUPPORTING SUSTAINABLE EMPLOYMENT FOR SERVICE LEAVERS
Just over a year ago ABF The Soldiers’ Charity committed £1.2M over the next three years to work in in partnership with the Regular Forces Employment Association to provide Employment Consultants to the wounded, injured and sick (WIS) cohort of Service Leavers. Nine individuals were recruited, trained and deployed to Regional Brigades across the country. The Employment Consultants are now working closely with Wounded, Injured and Sick (WIS) personnel in the Personnel Recovery Units of the Army Recovery Capability.
The aim of this initiative is to place future employment at the heart of the recovery process. The support of an Employment Consultant in the development of an Individual Recovery Plan will ensure that we are able to give the soldier the very best chance of finding the right job in the right place at the right time.
Working as part of the wider RFEA team, supporting the National reach of the CTP and Army Recovery Capability, the WIS Employment Consultants provide the support needed for our WIS soldiers to find work placements and jobs. Their local connection is absolutely essential - the Employment Consultants create the necessary links and contacts with the community in which these WIS soldiers and their families are going to live, thereby helping them to make a successful transition from military to civilian life. This investment will ensure that every WIS soldier is given the best chance for their future.
